1/4/2012-Bryant hits game winner despite horrible shooting night
Kobe Bryant took 15 shots to score his first bucket, yet was able to knock down the go ahead three to win the game as the Lakers beat the Hornets. Pau Gasol had 21 and 11 and Andrew Bynum had 19 points and 10 rebounds on 7-10 shooting.
JR Smith had 20 points off the Bench and Carmelo Anothony had 19 as the New York Knicks condemned the Cleveland Cavaliers to yet another loss. Even without Lin and Stoudemire, the Knicks were rarely challenged as they won by 16 points
Josh Smith’s 34 points were not enough for the Atlanta Hawks to beat Philadelphia 76ers. Elton Brand had 25 points and 10 rebounds as well as 5 assists to lead the Sixers.
Despite all 5 starters scoring in double figures, the Charlotte Bobcats were not able to notch a win against the Detroit Pistons. Tayshaun Prince’s 24 points high scored for the Pistons while Byron Mullens had 20 for the ‘Cats.
O.J. Mayo had 24 points off the bench to lead the Memphis Grizzlies over the Milwaukee Bucks. Both Ersan Ilyasove and Drew Gooden had 20 points apiece but it wasn’t enough to stop the Grizzlies.
Age doesn’t seem able to stop Tim Duncan as his 23 points and 11 rebounds lead the San Antonio Spurs over the slumping Indiana Pacers. Granger had 18 points for the Pacers while Tyler Hansbrough had 12 off the bench.
Deron Williams lifted the New Jersey Nets to the win, scoring 19 points and handing out 15 assists as the Nets beat the Kings. Tyreke Evans had 23 for the losers.
Chris Paul and Blake Griffin combined for 50 points as the LA Clippers triumphed over the Utah Jazz, despite Al Jeffersons’ 26 points
